When prepping content for a website you will want to pay attention to a couple of details:
Actually “keyphrases” is a better term. Don’t worry about trying to load up your content with keywords. Above all you want your copy to read well and be able to convert visitors to customers. Don’t repeat keyphrases more than once every 100 words or so, and use synonyms as much as you can. Eg: you might use the keyphrase “karate lessons” and about 100 words later want to use the keyphrase “karate training”. Each page might have a list of keyphrases with 3 to 10 entries depending on how much text is on the page. For instance, you might have a page that you have written 250 words for. That’s probably not enough content to support more than 5 keyphrases.
Create a description/synopsis/teaser for each page. It should be about 250 characters long (for search engine results). This breaks down to 45-50 words.
Appears at the top of the page in a headline tag (h1, h2). This title is also usually used for the page’s title tag (which appears at the top of the browser window).
In the main content of the page, you may want to include some keyphrases within bold or italicized text. This can help search engines understand how your page should be indexed, but don’t overdo it. Too much much of this can also negatively impact your conversion ratio.
